Ok, so I am a late entry here.... found myself missing Live Journal and needing a place where I felt I could safely vent. Trying to find friends and find my way here.

I am having a week that has been making me kinda sad and I don't like it. A friend died of cancer - she and I were not even all that tight, but it has been hitting me hard and I am out of sorts. I also received an unbelievably disappointing royalty check from my publisher, was rejected by a different publisher, and now I am kind of questioning my existence. A sweet student gave me a beautiful hand drawn sympathy card and I ugly cried in my office.

So yeah. This is my first post.

Your timing is perfect! It's Three Weeks for Dreamwidth, which typically brings a big spike in activity so it's easier to find friends and communities.

Welcome to DW, new friend. I agree: cancer sucks. A friend of 40 years died of it recently and in two days I have to go to her memorial service. Hugs for you.

What a sweet gift. Anyone who can draw just seems especially gifted to me. I can't even do stick people well.

Oh, Cancer, that C Ya Next Tuesday creature. It takes so many. Life is sacred. Whether that person was close to you or not, it can be sad. Big hugs. Grief is weird. Unfortunately, Grief and I have a long history.

Hi there, I saw your addme entry and browsed a little and I find your writing really engaging and enjoyable, so I subscribed. No need to subscribe back or anything, no pressure at all at this time. My journal is relatively locked down and only a handful of people have access because i vent highly, highly personal inner thoughts in a stream of consciousness style that most people can't digest. when i write something digestible and appropriate, I leave it public, which is averaging maaaaybe 1x per week? i journal compulsively sometimes multiple times a day but honestly don't want to subject too many people to my internal petty dramas lol. so anyway I'm just gunna hang out and lurk if that's okay, if you *really* want access lmk. I am about to turn 48, and have been through a lot of crap, i consider myself non-religious but am a bit pagan-leaning but more faery than wicca, but have many friends who are witches. i worship nature if anything. i am a faery by profession (this mostly involves tying sparkly things into people's hair called "fairy hair"), and am married and polyromantic. :) I had hip dysplasia and a reconstruction in my late 20s which makes me worried for your poor lil hip. if it continues to bother you for long, you might have to get a scan to check for a torn labrum. it can be fixed but boy is it painful (mine never tore but was severely inflamed and wow I don't know how people even walk with a tear).
